Service Pack, Original, TQ1 or Smart Plus? How to Choose a Screen Grade for Each Repair
分享
The same phone can be repaired with five different screens, at five different prices. Picking the right grade is the difference between a customer who comes back and one who argues about the bill. Here is what each grade is, who it suits, and how to quote it.
The five grades at a glance
| Grade | What it is | Quote it when |
|---|---|---|
| Service Pack | Genuine and brand new, from the manufacturer's service channel | The customer wants a new genuine part and price comes second |
| Original | Genuine part, pulled from a used device | Genuine matters, but the budget does not stretch to Service Pack |
| Original Refurb | Original display panel with new outer glass, refurbished in-house | The customer wants original colour and touch at a lower price |
| TQ1 | Our top grade of aftermarket parts | The customer wants the closest thing to original without the original price |
| Smart Plus | Aftermarket, one step below TQ1 | Budget repairs, older phones and high-volume work |
Start with three questions
Before you pick a part, ask the customer three things. The answers usually point straight to a grade.
- Does it need to be genuine? If yes, you are choosing between Service Pack, Original and Original Refurb. If no, TQ1 and Smart Plus come into play.
- How long will they keep the phone? A daily driver they plan to keep for years justifies a better grade than a phone they are about to sell or hand down.
- What is the budget? Ask for a number. It saves quoting a part they were never going to pay for.
Grade by grade
Service Pack
Brand new and sealed, from the manufacturer's official repair channel, carrying the original part number. Nothing has been pulled or reworked. It is the most expensive option, and the easiest to explain: it is the same part the manufacturer would fit.
Tell the customer: this is a new, genuine part — the closest you can get to the phone as it left the factory.
Original
A genuine part pulled from a used device. Colour accuracy, touch response and fit match the factory part, at a lower price than Service Pack. On some Samsung listings you will see a note that a part is not from official Samsung — that means it is a genuine pulled part, not a new part from Samsung's service channel.
Tell the customer: genuine, but not new.
Original Refurb
An original display panel with the outer glass replaced in our own workshop. The display itself — colour, brightness and touch — is the original, at a lower price than a new original part. Refurbished stock is also graded on cosmetic condition: a Blemish A panel has only marks that are invisible when the screen is on.
Tell the customer: the screen you look at is original; the glass on top is new.
TQ1
Our top grade of aftermarket parts — the best-quality third-party screens we source. Display type and refresh rate vary by model and are shown in each product title, for example Soft OLED at 120Hz or InCell LCD. If you are deciding between those two on an iPhone, read our Soft OLED vs InCell guide.
Galaxy S Ultra exception: our TQ1 Galaxy S Ultra screens pair a genuine Samsung Service Pack OLED display with a refurbished frame — a lower-cost alternative to a complete Service Pack assembly. Each listing says so in the title.
Tell the customer: a high-quality aftermarket screen, not a genuine part.
Smart Plus
One step below TQ1. Aftermarket parts with only a small quality gap to TQ1, at a more economical price. The right call for budget repairs, older handsets and jobs where you are fixing several phones at once.
Tell the customer: a reliable, lower-cost aftermarket option.
Match the grade to the job
| Situation | Grades to offer |
|---|---|
| Near-new phone, customer wants it exactly as it was | Service Pack, then Original |
| Main phone, wants genuine but price-conscious | Original Refurb or Original |
| Main phone, genuine not essential | TQ1 |
| Older phone, kid's phone or backup | Smart Plus, or TQ1 if they want better |
| Trade-in you are repairing to resell | Smart Plus or TQ1, depending on the resale price |
| Galaxy S Ultra on a budget | TQ1 (Service Pack OLED on a refurbished frame) |
Quote two or three options, not one
The habit that prevents most disputes: give the customer a choice. Two or three grades, a price for each, and one sentence on the difference. For example:
Good
Smart Plus — the lowest-cost repair that does the job.
Better
TQ1 — the best aftermarket screen.
Best
Original Refurb, Original or Service Pack — genuine display.
Customers who choose the cheaper option know exactly what they are getting, and many will pay for the better grade once they see the difference spelled out.
Check the listing before you order
- The grade is in the title of every part we sell, with a coloured grade label on the product card.
- Display type and refresh rate — Soft OLED, InCell LCD, 120Hz — are in the title too.
- Frame or no frame. Some screens come with the frame fitted and some without. Check before you quote the labour.
- Model code. Confirm the exact model first. Our guides to finding an iPhone model number and a Samsung model code take a minute.
Is only the glass broken?
If the display underneath still works, you may not need a new screen at all. We can replace the glass and keep the original panel — see glass-only refurbishing for swap pricing.
